The current trend that exists on your planet to give labels to “personality disorders” may be helpful in terms of pigeonholing people but is actually not accurate. The human personality is generally ‘disordered’ in one way or another simply because of the mental chaos that most people dwell in.

A person with a well-ordered personality is someone with a quiet mind. It is someone who uses awareness first and talks second. You were all born into a collective consciousness which imprinted your own thinking almost from day one and most people become slaves to their thinking to a greater or lesser extent.

The source of your psychological pain lies in the way you think and while we do not deny that circumstances of pain and tragedy will cause immeasurable suffering, we see that much suffering can be mitigated by a deeper understanding of consciousness and the nature of life. There will always be events that appear unavoidable but there is much unnecessary conflict and mental disturbance.

Human thinking is naturally dualistic which is why it is so easy to create division between people. An understanding of Oneness will heal those divisions and while you experience human life as one of separateness, in quiet and conscious moments a sense of oneness will prevail.

There is no need to have division. All it does is create war at some level. You are trained to believe that the content of your mind is what defines you as a human being but you are so much more than your thinking. Less thinking leads to more peace, more creativity and more happiness, for there is a flow to all life that can fulfil itself joyfully if the mind stays out of it.

The purpose of the thinking mind is to support the practicalities of your life. You need it to acquire knowledge and give concrete expression to creative pursuit but in moments when the mind is not usefully employed and is quiet, happiness more naturally prevails.

The world is overwhelmed with mental input in a way it has never been before and this is simply distracting and undermining to the whole beingness of a person. The mind becomes tired and depression or listlessness or anxiety sets in. To avoid this is it wise to practise periods of withdrawal from mental distraction. Meditation can take many forms so find a way to meditate that suits you. You will only know if it works if you feel better as a result. Learning to observe your thoughts is an effective way of cutting through them.

There is nothing wrong with having an opinion but do not let your opinions define you and always remember that who you truly are is senior to your opinions. You do not always know the truth and an open mind is always more available to real inspiration, guidance and new knowledge. The act of surrender requires an open mind where there is a clear understanding that Source is senior to all things and that all miracles ultimately come from Source.

We do not mean that you should become naiive and unintelligent but use your intelligence with wisdom and apply it where it is meant to be used. Much of the psychological malaise of your world is caused by the over emphasis of opinion and the divisions this causes between people. Look at what you do want, not at what you believe others are forcing on you for this is the building block of creativity.

Recall those moments in your life when you have experience true happiness. At those moments your thinking mind was in abeyance and your awareness was alert. Happiness comes up through the heart center but a mind in conflict creates an invisible ceiling which it cannot pierce.

You can’t change your thinking but you can observe it and observation is the first step in establishing quietude in the mind. Realising that who you truly are is not the content of your mind is the first step in freedom and emotional wellbeing. This is the birthright of every human being.
